[Character name] Takanashi Yomi
[Age] Not specified, but since she's in her second year of junior high, I assume she's around 12-14.
[Canon] Black★Rock Shooter
[Point in time taken from canon] The end of the OVA.

[Background]
Ever since she was born, Yomi has been moving around the world, never settling down due to what is presumably her parent's work and lifestyles. Before returning to her birth country, Japan, for her junior high years, Yomi's family had been living in Germany for a quite a while--long enough for her to pick up a decent amount of German herself. Her parents are also considerably wealthy, being able to afford expensive cars and detectives, and insisting on driving her personally to school on her first day.

Yomi first meets Mato after the entrance ceremony for their first year of junior high, both of them having landed in the same class, when Mato approaches her. Mato, being curious about Yomi after seeing her exit her father's car in the morning, starts trying to make conversation with her in the hallway on their way back to their classroom. While Yomi is initially startled by this, not being used to dealing with such straightforward characters, she warms up to her rather quickly. She introduces herself to Mato, explaining the small pun behind her last name, "Takanashi", and both girls return to their classroom together. From then on they become friends, becoming inseparable in short amount of time.

While Yomi is initially unsure of what club to join at her school, seeing Mato play basketball inspires her to join a sports club, and upon noticing that the volleyball club is right besides the basketball club, she makes her decision. Both girls start hanging out together more often, and eventually Mato shows Yomi her favorite spot on top of a hill in their little neighborhood and gifts her a cellphone charm to match with her own. Yomi, although being slightly confused at first, accepts her gift and promises to take care of it always.

However, when Mato and Yomi reach their second year of junior high, they are both placed in separate classes, causing them to slowly drift apart from each other. During this time, Mato gets injured while playing basketball and another girl named Yuu tends to her, making Yomi feel slightly jealous. Mato introduces Yomi to Yuu in hopes of getting all three of them to hang out together as best friends, but instead Yomi ends up feeling alienated, drifting behind both Mato and Yuu and not partaking in their conversations at all. She begins to space out, worrying Mato for a moment, but she simply reassures her that she's tired and has a lot on her mind. Eventually, it gets to the point where Yomi simply watches Yuu and Mato converse from afar, neither of them taking notice of the fact that she's missing. All of the jealousy she had kept inside of her at this point is what allows Dead Master to take over and posses her, controlling her and making her leave school early and then causing her to disappear from the real world completely and without a trace.

After Mato herself merges with her Other Self, Black★Rock Shooter, and comes to rescue her, Black★Rock Shooter fights against Dead Master. After being disarmed by Black★Rock Shooter, Dead Master gains the upper hand by trapping her in a web of chains that she can control. However, much to Dead Master's surprise, Black★Rock Shooter is able to break free and while Dead Master attempts to trap her again while inching away from her slowly, Black★Rock Shooter embraces her as soon as Dead Master is about to fall down from a ledge (and presumably towards Yomi's death, should she fall down, as she is Dead Master's current host). As Dead Master is a being which thrives on negative feelings, after her attempts at resisting Black★Rock Shooter fail, she is expelled from Yomi's body and disappears, leaving Yomi unconscious in Black★Rock Shooter's arms as the castle they were inside of began to crumble.

Although what happens after that is unclear, by the next time we see both Yomi and Mato both of them have become close to each other once again. Matos invites Yuu to tag along with them, which Yomi cheerfully accepts. However, despite the fact that Yuu follows shortly, they are both unaware to her dark state--perhaps even hinting that their friend is on the verge of being taken over by her Other Self.

[Personality]
Gentle, polite and mature for her age, Yomi has all of the makings of a future Yamato Nadeshiko. Despite the fact that she comes from a wealthy family, Yomi is rather humble, enjoying her current life in Machinami-cho with Mato opposed to her previous life in big cities and several different countries. She prefers to do things by herself instead of flaunting her privileges, finding herself much more comfortable walking and taking the train to school instead of having her father drive her there--although she won't oppose to the idea if her parents insist on it. She is rather intelligent, always getting high marks in school and enjoying Math as one of her favorite subjects.

However, due to the fact that she has been moving around ever since she was born, Yomi has a tendency to be a bit awkward and unsure in social situations. When Mato first approached her, Yomi felt rather startled and had no idea of what to make out of Mato attempting to make conversation with her. Still, due to Mato's charisma, once both of them found something they had in common they became best friends rather quickly.

Because of her awkwardness, though, Yomi finds it more comfortable to have one single friend she can spend all of her time with instead of various friends to hang out with--which is her problem once she and Mato are split into separate classes and Mato begins to spend time with Yuu, who she had more things in common with than Yomi due to the fact that they were both members of the basketball club. Yomi begins to feel isolated, walking a step or so behind them when they are all walking home and spacing out constantly when she is alone with Mato, worried that Mato might find Yuu's company preferable over her own and abandon her one day.

Of course, this brings up another problem with Yomi's personality:

She hates making people worry about her, and thus takes it upon herself to lock all of her problems inside and never speak of them again, thinking that it is for the best. No matter what is worrying her, should people notice how troubled she is, she will simply smile and dismiss it quickly with some half-hearted excuse along the lines of "I'm feeling tired or "I'm sorry, I'm just worried about the upcoming exams". This makes her very prone to having dark feelings of loneliness and jealousy, which only get worse over time due to her inability to talk about them even with those who are close to her, making her constantly feel like an outsider or someone who is not welcome--which is exactly what makes it so easy for Dark Master to take over her.

She, however, values her friends extremely. Despite the fact that she is initially uneasy around Yuu, feeling that she was taking Mato away from her, once she is saved by Black★Rock Shooter and brought back to the Real World, she welcomes her as her friend with ease, knowing now that nobody would ever take her spot as Mato's best friend away from her. Once she gets over her jealousy and awkwardness due to her inexperience with social situations, she is capable of being friends with anyone--given that they are not jerks or give her a particular good reason to be uneasy around them.

All in all, Yomi is just your typical average girl. She loves her friends with all of her heart, and that's all that really matters to her; having her friends around her.

[Abilities] None. While Dead Master is a bamf, Yomi is just a regular old, powerless teenager.

[Other important stuff] She can speak enough German to get by and is a pretty good volleyball player? Aside from that, I will be playing Yomi assuming that she has no memories of her time in the Other World while being possessed by Dead Master, as it is implied that she herself was unconscious during the whole thing.

[First Person]
Ah... We're meant to fill this questionnaire out, right? These questions are kind of... Odd, though, aren't they? I'm not sure about how much answering a question about cake being left out in the rain would help with anything... Wouldn't everyone just say that they'd throw it out?

--There are people who would eat it? I-- I see? But that didn't, ah, really answer my question. I don't understand what this questionnaire is meant to do. Why would a gang leader challenge me to a fight? And my opinion on murder...? I'm sorry. I don't think I'm really the right person to answer this kind of questionnaire...

[Small pause.]

...Really? I can go now? Alright. I'm glad I could help, even a little.

[Third Person]
She isn't quite sure of what happened during her disappearance.

She vaguely remembers going to the volleyball club's manager. She vaguely remembers telling her that she needed to go home early because of something (a simple, believable excuse--something along the lines of a relative being in the hospital or having prior arrangements with her parents), just as she vaguely remembers leaving school and walking all the way up to the cliff she and Mato used to go to every once in a while. The cliff she and Mato used to go to before Yuu came into their lives.

Of course, she remembers disliking Yuu clearly. She remembers being afraid that Mato would someday forget about her, that she would one day find Yuu's company a lot more enjoyable than her own (and it wasn't that farfetched, really, when they both shared a common hobby), and she remembers that fear coming true. But just as she remembers all of those things, she remembers all of them being moot just as quickly as it all happened. She remembers her jealousy for Yuu being gone, and she remembers realizing, once again, that she would always be Mato's best friend.

It was a nice feeling, she supposed, being able to walk back home from school with Mato again as if nothing really happened, and for once being able to welcome Yuu to join them with open arms. It was the happiest she had felt a long time, she never wanted it to end, and maybe it never would have ended--if not for the fact that Yomi had no idea about what her current whereabouts were.

At first she thinks she's still half-asleep, that she hasn't really woken up yet and is still seeing things from her dreams, and that she needs to wake up soon in order to go to school. However, when she tries to sit up, feeling a bit disoriented as she idly rubs at her eyes, she realizes she's fully awake and that she isn't dreaming anymore. After all, if she were still dreaming, she should have snapped out of it as soon as she realized she was dreaming, right? She should have found herself back in her bed just as she went to sleep, shouldn't have she?

At the very least, the image of a floating castle in the sky shouldn’t have been so livid.

She stares at it for a while, blinking (once, twice), trying to see if the image would go away and be replaced by her own room. But after it became clear that it was most certainly not going to happen, and that she wasn't going to suddenly reappear in her room, she feels scared. At least she only vaguely remembered the time when she disappeared--this was real, this was happening now.

"...Mato?" Yomi calls out the name hesitantly, knowing that the chances for anybody answering back were slim (and never mind the chances of Mato answering her), but it helped calm her down. She looks around at her surroundings for a moment, identifying the place she found herself in as some sort of village, before attempting to stand up on her own two feet. She doesn’t remember ever being in a place such as this one before--not even vaguely in her memories from when she was still a child, which is a bit more than just a little disconcerting.

She didn’t seem to be injured at the very least, and her clothes were intact, which was a good sign. It could be worse, perhaps. A lot worse, but she tries not to think much about it--it would only make her feel even more afraid, and that wasn’t an option. Even if Mato wasn’t here, there was a possibility should could be, and even if it turns out there wasn’t, she had to follow her example. Yomi had to make the best out of a bad situation and stay strong, which is just what she will do.

As soon as she figures out where she’s ended up, at least.

[Why do you want to play this character in Somarium?] I just. Really want to play this girl somewhere--the muse demands some CR. I also want to try my hand at playing a character who is neither a yandere, yangire or worships the ground someone else walks on. :'|b
[Which rule was your favorite and why?] Again, the rule against playercest.
[Where did you hear about Somarium?] --
[Any questions?] Would Dead Master and Yomi be treated as separate characters here in Somarium? I'm apping Yomi under the assumption that they're completely different characters and thus able to be apped as such (especially since Black Rock Shooter's character profile states that she lives in a completely world than Mato and Yomi--which implies that Mato =/= B★RS), but I'd like to know the mods opinion on this, just to be safe, since interpretation of canon differs from person to person.
